This is Kellene Elise of This Lovely Little Day, my personal lifestyle blog! I write about all the things that make each and everyday a little bit lovelier.. :) Some of my favorite topics include art, crafts, food, fashion, and all kinds of happy things!
Today I decided to do a little DIY that was inspired by Lesley's love for literature! I too can be quite the bookworm at times so it was the perfect idea! Here you can see the bookends I made out of old children's toys! If you have seen my blog before, you know that I adore anything with a little whimsy... These little toys were just so cute that I couldn't help but try to find a little project for them!
First I went to my local craft store and bought these wooden blocks to use at the base of the bookends. (they were $0.59 a piece, definitely in my price range!) Next I attached the toys to the base with super glue and waited for it to dry.
Next was the painting! I fell in love with this pistachio green as soon as I saw it and knew that it was exactly what I wanted! I decided to use spray paint because it is so much easier to get an even application! It only took two coats and we were good to go!
Finally, these specific toys are too small and lightweight to support books on their own so I attached them to some plain bookends that I already had with super glue again. The bookends were under $5 originally.
Now all you have to do is wait for it to dry and viola! There you have it! A super simple way to add a little childlike flare to your bookshelves! It is a great idea for dressing up any bookshelf, dorm room, or children's room!

Hey Lesley!
Since I had quite an argument about my comment on this blogger day of silence due to legalized abortion, I wanted to delete my comment altogether until I saw your reply!
So I left it outthere for everyone to read. I didn´t want to delete it because I was ashamed of my opinion but I didn´t want to deal with negative emails anymore and wanted to take it down a notch..... still your reply showed me that it is okay to have a different opinion and to speak up.
thanks ;)
That dinosaur book end is adorable! I think I'll have to try this out some time soon.
This DIY is so creative! :) Thank you for letting me know about Kellene Elise´s blog, I love it!
